Sofidel America has placed an order with Valmet for a new Advantage ThruAir tissue production line to expand output of ultra\u2011premium tissue products for the North American market.<\/p>\n

The 5.6m-wide line is planned to deliver annual production of 75,000t and is optimised to reduce fibre use while maintaining targeted paper properties.<\/p>\n

Valmet\u2019s package for the project covers a complete tissue production line including mill engineering, stock preparation equipment and an Advantage ThruAir 200 tissue machine.<\/p>\n

Automation and digital solutions form a significant part of the supply.<\/p>\n

Valmet will provide a Valmet DNA distributed control system with built\u2011in machine condition monitoring, and a Valmet IQ quality control system and web monitoring System.<\/p>\n

Flow control and industrial internet solutions are included, together with Valmet performance centre services, quality prediction and centreline applications.<\/p>\n

Sofidel CEO <\/strong>Luigi Lazzareschi stated: \u201cWith this new, significant investment, we are putting down even stronger roots in the United States, improving our ability to meet customer demand and further enhancing our capacity to supply first-quality products through TAD [through-air drying] technology.\u201d<\/p>\n

The order was reported in Valmet\u2019s third quarter (Q3) 2025 orders received, with start\u2011up of the new line scheduled for Q2 of 2028.<\/p>\n

Sofidel and Valmet have worked together for more than 30 years.<\/p>\n

Sofidel operates 20 tissue lines. Its most recent joint project saw an Advantage DCT line start up at Sofidel\u2019s Circleville, Ohio mill in September 2025.<\/p>\n

Sofidel America runs 14 production sites across 11 US states and has a corporate office in Horsham, Pennsylvania.<\/p>\n

Valmet tissue business area executive vice-president Jon Jested-Rask called the latest order the \u201clargest full-scope tissue delivery\u201d to date, stating: \u201cThe new production line will feature the latest advancements in production efficiency, capacity and environmental performance supporting their long-term goals.\u201d<\/p>\n

Valmet has secured several other contracts in 2025, including delivery of automation<\/a> and quality management solutions to Shandong Jintianhe Paper in China and an automation order<\/a> for resource efficiency improvements at Klingele Paper & Packaging\u2019s Weener mill in Germany.<\/p>\n
