Protein-heavy diets are\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.npr.org\/2025\/01\/30\/nx-s1-5270923\/protein-seems-to-suddenly-be-everywhere-heres-why\">back<\/a>, even though experts say you\u2019re probably already eating\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/news\/2019\/jan\/04\/protein-mania-the-rich-worlds-new-diet-obsession\">more<\/a>\u00a0than you need, and supplements are\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.consumerreports.org\/lead\/protein-powders-and-shakes-contain-high-levels-of-lead-a4206364640\/\">loaded<\/a>\u00a0with heavy metals. Smoking is thankfully\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.lung.org\/research\/trends-in-lung-disease\/tobacco-trends-brief\/overall-smoking-trends\">down<\/a>, even if cigarette packaging is\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/thedieline.com\/shelf-life-079-cigarette-inspired-packaging-is-trending-thanks-to-smokings-cultural-cache\/\">en vogue<\/a>, and the US Health and Human Services Secretary RFK Jr. is a nicotine pouch\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/futurism.com\/neoscope\/rfk-mouth-thing\">packer<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>And, perhaps surprisingly, according to pollster Gallup, drinking is on the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/news.gallup.com\/poll\/693362\/drinking-rate-new-low-alcohol-concerns-surge.aspx\">decline<\/a>. Of course, this might only be news to you if you\u2019ve been busy leading your life and haven\u2019t read any marketing on how younger generations are consuming less booze. Still, the Gallup poll is quite remarkable in that they\u2019ve tracked Americans\u2019 drinking behavior and attitudes since 1939, just six years after the end of prohibition.
