US-based packaging company ProAmpac has expanded its Food Board manufacturing operations at its Donegal campus in Ireland, with the addition of a purpose-built production area within the existing site.<\/p>\n

The investment is intended to raise both output capacity and production accuracy at the Donegal facility, which supplies customers across the pet food, food-to-go and consumer packaged goods segments.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n

Central to the expansion is the installation of a new guillotine cutting system, designed to deliver cleaner edges and more consistent board quality.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The company said the enlarged operation also brings organisational changes, including the introduction of a dedicated customer service team and updated processes aimed at improving efficiency and shortening lead times.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n

Food Board manufactured at the site is now offered in weights ranging from 190gsm to 800gsm.\u00a0<\/p>\n

ProAmpac\u2019s\u00a0Food Board materials are used across a range of food applications, including seafood, poultry,\u00a0meat\u00a0and confectionery.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n

End uses include fish and poultry portions, fresh and cured meat cuts and cakes, primarily for chilled and prepared food products.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The increased capability is designed to sit alongside the site\u2019s existing manufacture of printed and unprinted vacuum pouches, allowing combined supply for products such as smoked salmon and other refrigerated foods.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Earlier this month, ProAmpac\u00a0agreed<\/a>\u00a0to\u00a0acquire\u00a0TC Transcontinental Packaging (TCP) from Canada-based TC Transcontinental (Transcontinental) for\u00a0$1.51bn.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n

The deal will be finalised in the first quarter of\u00a02026, contingent\u00a0on shareholder approval, regulatory\u00a0clearances\u00a0and other standard conditions.\u00a0<\/p>\n
