The Suez Canal Economic Zone (SCZONE) and Turkish company Eroglu\u00a0Global\u00a0have finalised a contract to build a new carton and packaging factory in the\u00a0Qantara\u00a0West Industrial Zone.<\/p>\n

Entailing\u00a0an investment of\u00a0$175m,\u00a0the 70,000m\u00b2 site will produce Tetra Pak units, carton boxes, and sheets.<\/p>\n

The facility is expected to create 2,000 direct jobs, SCZONE said in a statement issued on 20 January.<\/p>\n

Half of the factory\u2019s output is planned for export markets, with the other half\u00a0to be\u00a0supplied to the local market.<\/p>\n

According to\u00a0SCZONE\u00a0chairman\u00a0Waleid\u00a0Gamal El-Dien,\u00a0the project\u00a0\u201cstrengthens the industrial supply chain, adds value to Egyptian products\u201d.<\/p>\n

He also noted that with this addition,\u00a0Qantara\u00a0West Industrial Zone will have a total of 52 projects across 3,537,100m\u00b2, reaching cumulative investments of\u00a0$1.53bn\u00a0and offering 72,665 direct jobs.<\/p>\n

The\u00a0new factory will be\u00a0Eroglu\u2019s fourth project in\u00a0Qantara\u00a0West Industrial Zone, making it the largest industrial investor in the area, the press release noted.<\/p>\n

Established in T\u00fcrkiye in 1983 by Nurettin Ero\u011flu,\u00a0Eroglu\u00a0has a diversified portfolio, including textiles, real estate, energy, furniture, shopping centres, and retail.<\/p>\n

The group operates in several countries such as Egypt, Germany, the UK, and Romania.<\/p>\n

In\u00a0a\u00a0separate development within\u00a0T\u00fcrkiye\u2019s\u202fpackaging sector,\u00a0Greif\u00a0opened\u00a0an Intermediate Bulk Container (IBC)\u00a0manufacturing facility<\/a>\u00a0in\u00a0Dilovasi\u00a0in 2023.<\/p>\n

Additionally, speciality paper manufacturer Felix Schoeller opened a<\/a> new Competence Center in Istanbul last year.<\/p>\n
