{"id":113,"date":"2024-06-24T00:00:00","date_gmt":"2024-06-24T04:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.packagingindustrynews.com\/?p=113"},"modified":"2024-06-25T15:28:33","modified_gmt":"2024-06-25T19:28:33","slug":"kps-capital-partners-to-sell-eviosys-to-sonoco-for-e3-615-billion","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.packagingindustrynews.com\/?p=113","title":{"rendered":"KPS Capital Partners to Sell Eviosys to Sonoco for \u20ac3.615 Billion"},"content":{"rendered":"<p> <br \/>\n<br \/><\/p>\n<div>\n<p>KPS Capital Partners LP announced today that it has entered into an agreement for its portfolio company, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.eviosys.com\/\" id=\"\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">Eviosys<\/a>, to be sold to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.packagingstrategies.com\/articles\/104536-2023-top-25-converters-consolidation-focus-on-sustainability\" id=\"\">Sonoco Products Company<\/a>, a Hartsville, South Carolina-based global leader in high-value sustainable packaging, for \u20ac3.615 billion (or approximately $3.9 billion). \u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Sonoco has the option, under certain circumstances, to pay up to $200 million of the purchase consideration in the form of Sonoco stock. \u00a0The transaction is expected to close by the end of 2024 and is subject to completion of required works council consultations and the receipt of required regulatory approvals and other customary closing conditions.<\/p>\n<p>Eviosys is a leading global supplier of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.packagingstrategies.com\/articles\/104532-pan-american-preference\" id=\"\">metal packaging<\/a>, producing food cans and ends, aerosol cans, metal closures and promotional packaging to preserve the products of hundreds of consumer brands. \u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Eviosys has the largest metal food can manufacturing footprint in the EMEA region, with over 6,300 employees in 44 manufacturing facilities across 17 countries in Europe, the Middle East and Africa. \u00a0Eviosys is a global leader in sustainability, with a product portfolio composed entirely of infinitely recyclable metal packaging and industry-leading performance across a broad spectrum of sustainability metrics. \u00a0<\/p>\n<p>KPS created Eviosys to acquire <a href=\"https:\/\/www.packagingstrategies.com\/articles\/104220-ardagh-metal-packaging-and-crown-holdings-fund-two-new-grants-for-can-capture-equipment\" id=\"\">Crown Holdings Inc.<\/a>\u2019s EMEA Food and Consumer Packaging Business in August 2021 in a highly complex global corporate carve-out transaction. Crown retained a 20% ownership interest in Eviosys. KPS assembled an accomplished management team, led by Chief Executive Officer Tom\u00e1s L\u00f3pez, to lead the transformation of Eviosys into one of Europe\u2019s largest and most profitable packaging companies.
