Amcor has announced the commercialization of AmPrima\u00ae Plus recycle-ready packaging that supports cheese processors in meeting sustainability goals driven by retailer and legislative mandates across North America, without compromising packaging performance.<\/p>\n

Agropur<\/a>\u2019s Grand Cheddar\u2122 signature premium cheddar cheese transitioned from a paperboard overpack with plain flow wrap film to an all-flexible package from Amcor, using AmPrima\u00ae Plus. To maintain the signature high-end look, Amcor employed Amplify\u00ae finishing technologies including matte overlacquer and metallic inks to make the product stand out.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe new Agropur Grand Cheddar\u2122 package demonstrates flexible packaging\u2019s unique ability to deliver meaningful source reduction and cost savings,\u201d said John Kearny, Senior Commercial Director \u2013 Dairy, Amcor Flexibles North America. \u201cAmcor\u2019s AmPrima\u00ae Plus solution represents innovation in material technology. It’s the industry\u2019s first recycle-ready flow wrap for chunk cheese, a multi-billion dollar food category, that meets the Association of Plastic Recycler\u2019s guidelines for recyclability without compromising other packaging performance requirements.\u201d<\/p>\n

When recycled, AmPrima\u00ae Plus flow wrap provides a 45% reduction in carbon footprint over standard flow wrap, according to an Amcor ASSET\u2122 life cycle assessment that is certified by the Carbon Trust.<\/p>\n
