Credit: Piotr Swat \/ Shutterstock.com.  <\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<p class=\"drop-cap\">Sonoco has posted an attributable net income of $332.2m in the fourth quarter of 2025, rebounding from a $43m loss in the same period last year.<\/p>\n<p>The packaging business\u2019s operating profit increased to $520.2m for the three months to December 2025, from $56.1m a year earlier.<\/p>\n<div class=\"in-article-premium-insights mobile-useragent-scalar\">\n<section class=\"gms-b2b-marketing\">\n<figure><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.packaging-gateway.com\/wp-content\/themes\/goodlife-wp-B2B\/assets\/images\/GMS-logo.svg\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n<h4> Discover B2B Marketing That Performs <\/h4>\n<p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\tCombine business intelligence and editorial excellence to reach engaged professionals across 36 leading media platforms.\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.globaldatamarketingsolutions.com\/\" class=\"gms-find-out-more\" target=\"_blank\"><br \/>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\tFind out more <span><svg xmlns=\"http:\/\/www.w3.org\/2000\/svg\" width=\"13\" height=\"9\" viewbox=\"0 0 13 9\" fill=\"none\"><path fill-rule=\"evenodd\" clip-rule=\"evenodd\" d=\"M11.685 4.5548L1.25586 4.5548L11.685 4.5548Z\" fill=\"white\"\/><path d=\"M11.685 4.5548L1.25586 4.5548\" stroke=\"white\" stroke-width=\"1.03145\" stroke-linecap=\"round\" stroke-linejoin=\"round\"\/><path d=\"M7.85693 0.918855L11.9827 4.5731L7.85693 8.33789\" stroke=\"white\" stroke-width=\"1.03145\" stroke-linecap=\"round\" stroke-linejoin=\"round\"\/><\/svg><\/span><\/a><\/p>\n<\/section>\n<\/div>\n<p>Diluted earnings per share stood at $3.33, from a loss of $0.44 per share, largely reflecting gains from the sale of a business.<\/p>\n<p>Quarterly net sales totalled $1.8bn, representing a 29.7% rise, with acquisition activity as the main driver.<\/p>\n<p>The consumer segment\u2019s net sales saw growth of 62.1%, attributed to Sonoco\u2019s Metal Packaging EMEA business, following the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.packaging-gateway.com\/news\/sonoco-3-9bn-acquisition-eviosys\/\" target=\"_blank\">completion of the Eviosys acquisition<\/a>, along with pricing actions.<\/p>\n<p>Net sales for the industrial segment were steady at $568m; price increases were offset by reduced sales from prior divestitures and minor volume declines.<\/p>\n<p>Operating cash flow was reported at $413m for the quarter and $690m for the full year, including one-time tax payments of $196m related to asset sales.<\/p>\n<p>In November 2025, Sonoco finalised the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.packaging-gateway.com\/news\/sonoco-concludes-divestment-thermosafe-unit\/\" target=\"_blank\">sale of its ThermoSafe business unit<\/a> to Arsenal Capital Partners, generating gross proceeds of $656m.<\/p>\n<p>During the quarter, net debt was reduced by $965m and by $2.7bn for the year overall, bringing net leverage to approximately three times net debt to adjusted EBITDA.<\/p>\n<p>Full-year results showed net income of $1bn in 2025, an increase of 511.8% from $164m in 2024. In addition, total net sales grew by 41.7% across 2025.<\/p>\n<p>Net sales of the consumer packaging division nearly doubled, increasing 92.5% to reach $4.8bn, while industrial packaging\u2019s net sales slipped by 2.1% to $2.2bn.<\/p>\n<p>For 2026, Sonoco expects adjusted diluted earnings per share between $5.80 and $6.20 and adjusted EBITDA in the range of $1.25bn to $1.35bn.
