NOVA Chemicals has commercialised SYNDIGO rPE-IN3 and SYNDIGO rPE-IN4, two new grades of recycled polyethylene now available for general purpose, non-food applications in North America.<\/p>\n

These products are the latest in the company\u2019s SYNDIGO line, which utilises 100% post-consumer recycled films.<\/p>\n

Manufacturing takes place at the SYNDIGO1 facility in Connersville, Indiana, which was commissioned in May last year.<\/a>\u00a0<\/p>\n

The new materials are recycled linear low-density polyethylene (rLL\/LDPE).<\/p>\n

SYNDIGO rPE-IN3 is produced from recycled stretch films, while rPE-IN4 comes from mixed retail polyethylene film collected from distribution centres and stores.<\/p>\n

Both grades are intended for use in products such as can liners, protective packaging, carry out bags, overwrap, shrink film, and heavy-duty sacks.<\/p>\n

NOVA Chemicals\u2019 SYNDIGO range also includes a white rLLDPE resin for film products and a high-density polyethylene (rHDPE) resin that can be used in both food and non-food related items.<\/p>\n

The company has outlined plans to introduce a recycled LLDPE suitable for food-contact purposes in 2026.<\/p>\n

The mechanical recycling process at the SYNDIGO1 plant enables post-consumer resin to be used in different types of packaging, including pouches, bottles, and films.<\/p>\n

The facility began operations in 2025 and is targeting an annual production capacity exceeding 100 million pounds by 2026.<\/p>\n

NOVA Chemicals Mechanical Recycling director Alan Schrob commented: \u201cThese new SYNDIGO grades have been testing tremendously with our customers over the last several months, and we are excited to make them widely available in commercial quantities.<\/p>\n

\u201cOur SYNDIGO1 facility shows that film to film recycling is very real, and we are thrilled to deliver against our customer\u2019s expectations around quality, consistency, and scale.\u201d<\/p>\n

Based in Calgary, Alberta, NOVA Chemicals employs about 2,600 people globally. It is owned by Mubadala Investment Company of Abu Dhabi.<\/p>\n

NOVA Chemicals has commissioned its first polyethylene (PE) film recycling facility, referred to as SYNDIGO1, located in Connersville, Indiana, US.<\/p>\n
