Amcor has launched a new production line at its Lugo di Vicenza site in Italy, focusing on the manufacture of recyclable, high-barrier films for various packaging needs.<\/p>\n

The expanded operation covers nearly 7,000m\u00b2 and includes equipment for the entire production process, a new quality control laboratory, and an automated warehouse with temperature-controlled areas for material curing.<\/p>\n

The facility is intended to meet demand from sectors, including food, beverage, pet food, and healthcare.<\/p>\n

One of the products manufactured at the site is designed for applications requiring high-temperature sterilisation.<\/p>\n

This development comes as regulations such as the European Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation require all packaging to be recyclable by 2030.<\/p>\n

The updated site is aimed at enabling companies to comply with these rules.<\/p>\n

Commenting on the investment, the plant\u2019s general manager Elena Peron said: \u201cThis new facility is the result of Amcor\u2019s pledge to develop all our packaging to be recyclable, reusable or compostable.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis expansion, combined with the Amcor team\u2019s expertise, will support our customers in making the switch to recycle-ready packaging and contribute to a more circular packaging industry.\u201d<\/p>\n

Earlier this week, Amcor collaborated with Belgian company<\/a> De Ceuster Meststoffen (DCM) to introduce a mono-material polyethylene film for fertiliser packaging in Europe.<\/p>\n

This new packaging replaces DCM\u2019s earlier multi-material structure, which was unsuitable for recycling through current waste streams.<\/p>\n

The updated packs include 35% post-consumer recycled content and are offered in sizes from 650g to 7kg.<\/p>\n
