US-based packaging company Silgan Holdings is considering a possible acquisition of German medical packaging manufacturer Gerresheimer, reported Reuters<\/em><\/a>.<\/p>\n

Sources indicate that Silgan is working with advisers on a proposal that may value Gerresheimer at \u20ac41 ($47.22) per share.<\/p>\n

However, they emphasised that it is not yet certain whether a formal bid will be made or if any deal will be finalised.<\/p>\n

Gerresheimer declined to respond when asked for comment, and Silgan did not provide an immediate response.<\/p>\n

Gerresheimer has faced significant challenges in recent months.<\/p>\n

The company\u2019s market capitalisation currently stands at \u20ac600m ($694m), with its share price having dropped more than 80% from its highs in 2023 and falling by 37% since the beginning of this year.<\/p>\n

Late last month, Gerresheimer announced that Germany\u2019s financial regulator BaFin was expanding its examination of the company\u2019s financial statements.<\/p>\n

This development comes as the business continues to contend with accounting issues and falling share values.<\/p>\n

Discussions between\u00a0Gerresheimer\u00a0and private equity investors\u00a0about a potential sale<\/a>\u00a0took place last year but concluded without agreement.\u00a0<\/p>\n

For the fourth quarter of 2025, Silgan\u00a0reported net income<\/a>\u00a0of $18.2m, down from $45.1m\u00a0in\u00a0the same period\u00a0of\u00a02024.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Its full-year net income for 2025 rose to $288.4m from $276.4m in 2024.<\/p>\n

Silgan has projected adjusted net income per diluted share to range from $3.7 to $3.9 for 2026, a modest rise from its midpoint adjusted figure of $3.72 for 2025.<\/p>\n

In the previous year, Silgan\u00a0completed its acquisition<\/a>\u00a0of Weener Plastics, a Dutch dispensing solutions provider for the personal care, food, and healthcare industries, in a transaction valued at \u20ac838m\u00a0($908m).\u00a0<\/p>\n
