thyssenkrupp Uhde subsidiary Uhde Inventa-Fischer has entered an agreement with Turkish packaging company K\u00d6KSAN to build a PET manufacturing facility in Yumurtal\u0131k, Turkey.<\/p>\n

The planned line is set to produce 324,000tpa of PET resin for packaging uses and bulk continuous filament (BCF) output.<\/p>\n

The project is scheduled for completion and start-up in 2028.<\/p>\n

K\u00f6ksan CEO M Murat K\u00f6ko\u011flu said: \u201cWe are very happy to announce this project together with Uhde Inventa-Fischer, as already the first and second production lines in Gaziantep deliver excellent performance and product quality continuously.\u201d<\/p>\n

The facility will use Uhde Inventa-Fischer\u2019s Melt-To-Resin (MTR) process, which the company said will lead to a \u201csignificant\u201d cut in energy usage.<\/p>\n

Under the contract, thyssenkrupp Uhde will provide the licence, basic and detailed engineering, and major plant equipment.<\/p>\n

It will also train K\u00f6ksan\u2019s operating staff through its technology and operations specialists.<\/p>\n

PET resin grades from the site are planned for supply to domestic customers and to markets in the Middle East, the Americas, Europe and Africa.<\/p>\n

thyssenkrupp Uhde said the MTR system is a continuous polycondensation method that removes the solid-state post-condensation stage from PET resin production.<\/p>\n

According to the company, this brings reduced energy use, capital spending, operating and maintenance costs, as well as improved raw material yield compared with conventional methods.<\/p>\n

thyssenkrupp Uhde added that the technology can cut the carbon footprint linked to fuel and electricity by up to 30%.<\/p>\n

It uses 2-reactor technology with the patented ESPREE and DISCAGE reactors to reach the required high melt viscosities.<\/p>\n

Commenting on the development, thyssenkrupp Uhde CEO Nadja H\u00e5kansson said: \u201cWe are very proud that K\u00f6ksan has chosen us to build another state-of-the-art PET plant. <\/p>\n

\u201cOur well-proven MTR\u202fprocess demonstrates that our technologies deliver economic and environmental advantages at the same time, combining reduced energy consumption and higher yield with lower CapEx and OpEx.\u201d<\/p>\n
