The appeal is obvious: raw materials for molded fiber can be obtained more sustainably and with less environmental impact than metal or glass. Sustainable forestry is already well established for other packaging materials, such as paper and cardboard. Metal, however,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.rainforest-rescue.org\/topics\/aluminum\">requires<\/a>\u00a0mining and smelting, harming the surrounding areas and communities, while glass uses a tremendous amount of energy and\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nature.com\/articles\/d41586-021-02992-8\">produces<\/a> greenhouse gas emissions. <\/p>\n<p>And plastic?
