Mondi has opened a packaging plant in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania,\u00a0further expanding\u00a0its manufacturing base in the\u00a0US.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The site makes paper bags for customers in the e-commerce, food, feed, building materials and chemicals markets.\u00a0<\/p>\n

It brings together output that had been based at Mondi\u2019s Wellsburg, West Virginia, and Oakdale, Pennsylvania, operations.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n

The company has also installed automated equipment intended to support production efficiency, product\u00a0quality\u00a0and customer service.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The Pittsburgh facility adds to Mondi\u2019s US output, with emphasis on the eCommerce market, including paper mailer bags.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Mondi Americas\u00a0paper bags\u00a0president\u00a0Rory Taylor\u00a0said: \u201cThe opening of our new Pittsburgh plant marks an important milestone for our paper bags business in North America. By bringing production together in a modern facility, we are strengthening our ability to support customers with reliable,\u00a0high\u2011quality\u00a0paper bag solutions while responding more effectively to evolving customer needs across growing end markets.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n

Its automated lines and printing systems are set up to handle customer needs such as flexible volumes, shorter lead\u00a0times\u00a0and steady product quality, helping the company adjust to shifts in demand and\u00a0maintain\u00a0supply.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Once the ramp-up period is complete, the plant is expected to have annual capacity of 300 million paper bags.\u00a0<\/p>\n

By the end of this year, about 170 people are expected to work at the site across operations, technical\u00a0functions\u00a0and customer-facing roles.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Recently, Mondi\u00a0set out plans<\/a>\u00a0to expand its paper bag business in Southeast Asia through a joint venture with Indonesian cement producer PT\u00a0Indocement\u00a0Tunggal Prakarsa.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The new company, PT Mondi Indo Prakarsa\u00a0Kemasan, will be\u00a0located\u00a0at\u00a0Indocement\u2019s\u00a0cement factory complex in\u00a0Citeureup, West Java.\u00a0<\/p>\n
