Future Materials Sweden is transitioning from research to industrial-scale operations through a new investment in dry-moulded fibre (DMF) technology.<\/p>\n

This follows the joint development of fibre-based snus cans alongside Swedish DMF company PulPac and marks a shift toward commercial production.<\/p>\n

To facilitate this expansion, Future Materials has ordered two specialised Scala machines to be installed at a newly established production facility in Ljungby, Sm\u00e5land.<\/p>\n

This site will serve as the company\u2019s inaugural manufacturing hub, designed to meet high-volume demands.<\/p>\n

As a high-volume, demanding category, PulPac noted that snus cans highlight the potential for fibre-based solutions to replace traditional plastic packaging.<\/p>\n

Future Materials Sweden founder Morgan Svensson said: \u201cNow we\u2019re shifting gears from development to production.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cWe already have a first customer journey underway, but our ambition is to build something much bigger. We\u2019re actively looking to partner with more brands ready to bring fibre-based snus packaging to market. Interpack will be a great opportunity to meet \u2013 we\u2019ll be there together with PulPac to discuss what this could look like for new customers.\u201d<\/p>\n

The establishment of this facility in Sweden underscores the country\u2019s growing influence as a centre for fibre-based innovation, with Sm\u00e5land specifically emerging as a focal point for industrial adoption, added PulPac.<\/p>\n

PulPac chief commercial officer Sanna Fager said: \u201cThe transition from development to production requires commitment and a willingness to take that first step. <\/p>\n

\u201cThat\u2019s why it\u2019s especially exciting to see Future Materials moving forward with this investment. Establishing production in Sweden feels like a natural starting point, and it\u2019s through initiatives like this that the market begins to take shape.\u201d<\/p>\n

The new snus cans will be showcased at the upcoming interpack trade fair.<\/p>\n

Earlier this month, PulPac announced that its<\/a> intellectual property portfolio within DMF has exceeded 500 national patent grants worldwide.<\/p>\n
