Sonoco has unveiled resealable metal cans and its microwaveable metal bowls, a recyclable alternative to plastic trays, at\u00a0interpack 2026.<\/p>\n

The CapOnCan resealable metal can uses a metal container and a hermetically sealed metal cap in a mono-material structure.<\/p>\n

The\u00a0design can cut costs and Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) charges in\u00a0various\u00a0markets and support supply chain efficiency while keeping the properties associated with metal packaging.<\/p>\n

The steel can is intended as an alternative to the combination of a glass jar and a metal closure.<\/p>\n

It is lighter and can be reclosed for storage in the fridge after opening, with family-size products and pet food among the intended uses.<\/p>\n

The company also presented metal bowls certified by Association Fran\u00e7aise de Normalisation (AFNOR) for microwave use, aimed at ready meal products, a recyclable substitute for standard plastic trays.<\/p>\n

In its paper packaging line-up, Sonoco pointed to wider use of\u00a0GreenCan\u00a0in dry food.<\/p>\n

The pack\u00a0contains\u00a0up to 98% paper and uses 100% recycled paperboard.<\/p>\n

At the event, the format was shown through customer case studies, including Your Coffee Taste, which served coffee blends to visitors at Sonoco\u2019s stand.<\/p>\n

Cristal Union and its Daddy brand also appeared with Sonoco at\u00a0interpack to discuss the effect of regulation and changing consumer expectations on packaging choices, including paper-based packaging for icing sugar.<\/p>\n

The company further pointed to the demand for Orbit, its easy-open metal end for glass jars. According to Sonoco, the system aims to improve access for a broader group of consumers.<\/p>\n
