The pickleback is nothing new. Said to be\u00a0invented<\/a>\u00a0by Brooklyn bartender Reggie Cunningham of the Bushwick Country Club, it\u2019s as simple as can be\u2014a shot of whiskey chased by a shot of your favorite pickling liquid. Of course, if you\u2019ve ever read any of Chekhov\u2019s plays, you already know those country escapes were very much fueled by shots of vodka with sides of pickles.\u00a0<\/p>\n

And anyway, who says you need to have the booze? I regularly take a shot of pickle juice by itself for shits and giggles when I\u2019m fridge-surfing for snacks, and some folks even say it\u2019s ideal for\u00a0muscle cramps<\/a>\u00a0and the occasional Charlie horse.<\/p>\n
