McDonald\u2019s is taking significant steps to reduce its environmental impact, focusing on waste reduction and increasing the use of sustainable materials in its packaging and toy production.<\/p>\n

The company aims to help protect the planet and ensure its business remains resilient by evolving its packaging strategy, adopting alternative materials, and improving waste management practices.<\/p>\n

Progress towards sustainable packaging<\/h2>\n

By the end of 2023, McDonald\u2019s had reached 86.7% of its goal to source 100% of its primary packaging from renewable, recycled, or certified materials. <\/p>\n

Since 2018, the company has also reduced the use of virgin fossil fuel-based plastic in its Happy Meal toys by 63.7%.<\/p>\n

In addition, 88.3% of McDonald\u2019s restaurants in markets with advanced recycling infrastructure offered customers the opportunity to recycle or compost packaging items during 2023.<\/p>\n
