The programme demonstrated substantial waste and labour savings by removing the need to handle plastic.

This move is in line with both the companies’ commitment to reduce waste and minimise environmental impact while managing costs and loss prevention.

Sensormatic Solutions president Tony D’Onofrio said: “Many of Sensormatic Solutions most successful products and processes resulted from the close partnerships we’ve built with our customers, and our new packaging initiative is no exception.

“REI approached us to see if there was a way to reduce or eliminate plastic waste in our packaging. The Co-op assisted our product and development team every step of the way, contributing to testing, resourcing and critical feedback that validated this new packaging approach.”

The move towards recyclable packaging is in response to growing consumer demand for sustainable retail practices.

A survey by Sensormatic Solutions found that 83% of US shoppers consider sustainability when making purchases.

The survey also highlighted consumer behaviour changes, with 45% using reusable shopping bags, 41% preferring sustainable packaging, and 38% opting for eco-friendly materials.

This April, Sensormatic Solutions introduced its reduced-plastic Sustainable SPX AM Labels.

Sign up for our daily news round-up!

Give your business an edge with our leading industry insights.

Source link

The move is set to prevent up to 2,400lb of single-use plastic from entering landfills each year.
