Armed with\u00a0<a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.npr.org\/2024\/12\/13\/nx-s1-5227874\/trump-bezos-zuckerberg-amazon-facebook-open-ai-meta-inauguration-fund\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">many-zeroed checks<\/a>, the removal of site-wide\u00a0<a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/2025\/01\/07\/meta-eliminates-third-party-fact-checking-moves-to-community-notes.html\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">fact-checking<\/a>, and the promise of \u201c<a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/2025\/01\/07\/meta-eliminates-third-party-fact-checking-moves-to-community-notes.html\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">free expression<\/a>,\u201d i.e., whatever racist language folks feel like letting loose, it\u2019s been a few banner weeks of ring-kissing and back-scratching to curry favor with the\u00a0<a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=SHhrZgojY1Q\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">new-old boss<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Not to be outdone, even Coca-Cola decided to get in on the ass-kissing, with chairman and CEO James Quincey personally hand-delivering a commemorative bottle of Diet Coke, apparently the first ever given to an incoming president.<\/p>\n<p>Now, lest you believe you can lump Coca-Cola in with the Apples, Amazons, and Metas of the world, this tradition goes back to\u00a0<a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.coca-colacompany.com\/about-us\/history\/coca-cola-continues-tradition-of-commemorating-presidential-inaugurations-with-custom-bottles\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">George W Bush\u2019s second term in 2005<\/a>. Still, it\u2019s not as if Trump and the beverage maker have been on the best of terms in recent years, with the brand releasing a\u00a0<a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/CocaColaCo\/status\/1347224074024579075?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw%7Ctwcamp%5Etweetembed%7Ctwterm%5E1347224074024579075%7Ctwgr%5E4b1a20c36efef178013bf71fcfb69f2a9c03d089%7Ctwcon%5Es1_&amp;ref_url=https%3A%2F%2Fnymag.com%2Fintelligencer%2Farticle%2Fcoca-cola-trump-diet-coke-bottle-inauguration.html\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">statement in 2021 condemning the January 6th insurrection<\/a>\u00a0and Donald Trump calling for a Coca-Cola\u00a0<a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cnn.com\/2021\/04\/19\/business\/donald-trump-coke-boycott\/index.html\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">boycott<\/a>\u00a0(which he more than likely never supported because how can you cut off the hand of the beast who serves you when you hit your\u00a0<a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.foodandwine.com\/news\/biden-trump-diet-coke-button-oval-office-desk\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Diet Coke button<\/a>).
