Starting on 21 January 2025, a new scheme called PackUK will be responsible for overseeing the management of packaging waste in the UK.<\/p>\n

This is part of a government initiative to make businesses responsible for the packaging waste they create, which will help improve recycling and reduce the burden on taxpayers.<\/p>\n

What is PackUK and why is it important?<\/h2>\n

PackUK is a new organisation that will help manage the UK\u2019s packaging waste system. It is part of a programme called Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR), which means businesses will now pay for the recycling and disposal of the packaging they produce.<\/p>\n

This will take the pressure off local councils and taxpayers, who currently handle most of the cost.<\/p>\n

The goal is to improve how packaging waste is managed across the country. The programme is expected to bring in around \u00a310 billion over the next 10 years, which will help fund local recycling efforts and create new jobs.<\/p>\n

In England, up to 21,000 jobs could be created as a result of these changes.<\/p>\n
