Mondi, a sustainable packaging and paper company, has unveiled a new sustainable paint packaging solution called re\/cycle SpoutedPouch.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

The re\/cycle SpoutedPouch solution, produced at Mondi\u2019s Halle\/Steinfeld plant in Germany, features a wider spout than previously to facilitate easier filling and pouring.<\/p>\n

The company collaborated with Sherwin-Williams, a paints and coatings company, to introduce the monomaterial pouch, which is crafted to provide protection for its contents, ensuring the paint concentrate remains secure.<\/p>\n

This packaging initiative aims to replace Sherwin-Williams\u2019 traditional five-litre premixed paint in rigid plastic tubs.<\/p>\n

By offering a lightweight 950ml spouted pouch with clear mixing instructions, consumers are encouraged to reuse their existing tubs for mixing the paint concentrate, and then recycle the pouch after use.<\/p>\n

The spouted design of the pouch enhances pourability, simplifying the process of mixing with water to create the desired amount of paint.<\/p>\n

Additionally, the pouch can be resealed after use, preserving any leftover concentrate.<\/p>\n

The premade pouch is constructed from a polyethylene (PE) monomaterial and is claimed to reduce packaging waste while offering convenience for outdoor painting projects.<\/p>\n

Sherwin-Williams product marketing head Christina Rowe said: \u201cIt\u2019s more convenient for consumers to carry home and the leftovers are easily stored.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt will also increase transport efficiency thanks to the reduced weight and size of the packaging. By selling concentrate in spouted pouches rather than premixed fence stain in rigid tubs, we\u2019ve reduced plastic usage by up to 90%.\u201d<\/p>\n

Mondi said that this packaging is part of its broader mission to assist customers in achieving their environmental objectives.<\/p>\n

Mondi regional sales representative Gary Knight said: \u201cOur newly introduced solution has big potential for industrial applications, and we leverage our integrated value chain for pouch production, from the film extrusion to lamination to the spout insertion.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe were careful to ensure high-quality printing, so the branding stands out on the shelf, and the mixing instructions are clear and easily readable.\u201d<\/p>\n

Earlier this month, Zwiesel Glas teamed up with<\/a> Mondi to create custom packaging for its Handmade collection.<\/p>\n
