Ingredion, a global ingredient solutions provider, is set to expand its speciality industrial starch production capacity for the packaging and papermaking industries.<\/p>\n

The company is investing $50m in its Cedar Rapids facility in Iowa, US, to enhance the production of industrial starches.<\/p>\n
Ingredion LATAM and US\/Canada food and industrial ingredients senior vice-president Rob Ritchie said: \u201cDemand is growing for functional solutions that deliver against more stringent requirements for strength, biodegradability and recyclability across both containerboard and papermaking.<\/p>\n
\u201cIngredion is committed to supporting these industries as they adapt and innovate to meet a variety of changing consumer and environmental requirements, such as the need for stronger natural polymer-based food packaging.<\/p>\n
\u201cWith increased capacity and more efficient production at the Cedar Rapids facility, Ingredion will be well-positioned to deliver differentiated value to this growing market.\u201d<\/p>\n
This investment is also expected to support the circular economy efforts within the paper and packaging sectors.<\/p>\n
