Credit: BELL KA PANG\/Shutterstock.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<p class=\"drop-cap\">India\u2019s Union environment minister, Bhupender Yadav, has launched the \u2018One Nation, One Mission: End Plastic Pollution\u2019 campaign, a step towards combating plastic pollution across the country.<\/p>\n<p>The campaign, part of the government\u2019s broader Mission Lifestyle for Environment (LiFE) initiative, seeks to engage citizens in adopting eco-friendly habits and reducing plastic waste.<\/p>\n<p>Key thrust areas of the campaign focus on educating the public about the dangers of plastic waste, reducing plastic usage, enhancing waste management, and fostering the development of sustainable alternatives to single-use plastics.<\/p>\n<p>It aligns with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi\u2019s vision of promoting a sustainable lifestyle.<\/p>\n<p>The nationwide mobilisation will involve various stakeholders, including ministries within state and national governments, local bodies, educational institutions, civil society organisations, and community groups.<\/p>\n<p>The campaign will utilise diverse engagement methods such as social media campaigns, competitions, marathons, and clean-up drives in public spaces.<\/p>\n<p>Additionally, the campaign will feature workshops, webinars, and educational activities to promote sustainable practices and support lasting behavioural change. Stakeholders are encouraged to align their activities with the campaign\u2019s objectives and report their contributions via the government\u2019s \u2018Meri LiFE\u2019 portal.<\/p>\n<p>Yadav said on a social media post: \u201cIn the run-up to #WorldEnvironmentDay, @moefcc has launched a nationwide mass mobilisation campaign against plastic pollution today. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe campaign \u2018One Nation, One Mission: End Plastic Pollution\u2019 aims to nudge citizens to adopt eco-friendly alternatives as envisioned by PM [prime minister] Shri @narendramodi ji under Mission LiFE.
