{"id":8395,"date":"2025-07-23T13:34:49","date_gmt":"2025-07-23T17:34:49","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.packagingindustrynews.com\/?p=8395"},"modified":"2025-07-23T13:34:49","modified_gmt":"2025-07-23T17:34:49","slug":"pac-worldwide-releases-annual-sustainability-report","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.packagingindustrynews.com\/?p=8395","title":{"rendered":"PAC Worldwide Releases Annual Sustainability Report"},"content":{"rendered":"<p> <br \/>\n<br \/><\/p>\n<div>\n<p>Diverting waste from landfills is a heavy lift for any company that is serious about its sustainability goals. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pac.com\/\" id=\"\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">PAC Worldwide<\/a> was one of those able to raise the bar, with the company diverting an estimated 8,200 tons worth of packaging over the course of a year.<\/p>\n<p>That metric, which translates to 450 truck loads (based on the capacity of an 18-ton garbage truck), is one of several highlights from <a href=\"http:\/\/chrome-extension:\/\/efaidnbmnnnibpcajpcglclefindmkaj\/https:\/\/www.pac.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/sust-report_2024-FINAL_compressed.pdf\" id=\"\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">PAC\u2019s recently released annual sustainability report<\/a>. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.packagingstrategies.com\/articles\/104214-pac-worldwide-opens-new-flexible-packaging-facility-in-mexico\" id=\"\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">The Seattle-based flexible packaging leader<\/a> focused heavily on reduction initiatives in 2024, implementing reuse and circularity programs.<\/p>\n<p>A significant factor in the company\u2019s success was finding ways to use reusable instead of single-use materials wherever possible, along with a concerted effort to recycle and reuse materials throughout its global operations. Another win was offsetting 100% of electricity use in five manufacturing facilities across North America. The company achieved the mark through the purchase of renewable energy credits (RECs).<\/p>\n<h4>Other highlights included:<\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li>Partnering with Sustainable Solutions Corporation to create a zero-waste playbook to roll out company-wide<\/li>\n<li>Completing Scope 1,2, and 3 greenhouse gas calculations with Maui Foster &amp; Alongi Inc.<\/li>\n<li>Completing RCS100 Certification for the PAC Polyjacket available with 100% recycled content.<\/li>\n<li>Renewing Chain of Custody Certifications for the PAC Ecojacket and Kraft Airjacket, through Sustainable Forestry Initiative (SFI-02026), as well as Mailjacket, Forest Stewardship Council (FSC-C173614).<\/li>\n<li>Obtaining Fibre Box Association Certification for the PAC Ecojacket<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>PAC Worldwide President Thomas Parenteau said, \u201cAfter operating for half a century, finding sustainable ways to protect goods is more crucial than ever for PAC.
