Colorcon has inaugurated a new manufacturing facility in Johor, Malaysia, aimed at enhancing its production capabilities for film coatings.<\/p>\n

Colorcon provides film coating systems, speciality excipients, controlled release formulations, and controlled atmosphere packaging for the pharmaceutical and nutraceutical industries.<\/p>\n

The facility, which spans 200,000ft\u00b2, will create 30 jobs and serve as a key production centre for the Asia-Pacific market.<\/p>\n

The plant features advanced technology and energy-efficient systems, aligning with Colorcon\u2019s commitment to quality in the aforementioned sectors. <\/p>\n

Colorcon CEO Simon Tasker said: \u201cWe are thrilled to open this world-class facility to support our pharmaceutical customers throughout Asia.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis investment is aligned with our long-term vision to strengthen and de-risk our supply model for film coatings worldwide. Our goal is to anticipate market growth, adding capacity to ensure we are always a step ahead of demand.\u201d<\/p>\n

The new facility marks Colorcon\u2019s seventh manufacturing site globally, further expanding its operational footprint.<\/p>\n

Colorcon, established in 1961, launched Opadry in 1980, which is claimed to be the first complete film coating system that improved batch uniformity and minimised errors in tablet coating.<\/p>\n

Since then, Opadry has evolved into a variety of high-performance film coatings that meet different formulation and manufacturing requirements, such as taste-masking, moisture protection, and regulatory compliance.<\/p>\n

In May this year, Colorcon entered into an exclusive distribution agreement<\/a> with ASHA Cellulose to supply polymer-based products in select international regions, including Europe, the Middle East, Africa, and Northeast and Southeast Asia.<\/p>\n
