Wyda Packaging USA has announced it is doubling its Charlotte manufacturing facility to 26,000 square feet and introducing advanced automation technology under the leadership of newly appointed Factory Manager Rodrigo Salas. The investment creates approximately 40 new jobs, supports surging demand for domestically produced aluminum packaging solutions, and marks a significant milestone in Wyda’s U.S. growth strategy.
The investment adds 11,000 square feet of manufacturing space and state-of-the-art robotics designed to increase production capacity for aluminum foil rolls and containers. This positions Wyda’s Charlotte facility as a strategic hub for serving North American foodservice, retail, and private label partners with locally produced, sustainable packaging.
The facility now has capacity to produce 6,000 tons of aluminum packaging annually, including customized aluminum foil rolls and tray formats such as half, full, and oval roaster options. With a global product portfolio exceeding 200 SKUs, the enhanced Charlotte operation strengthens Wyda’s ability to serve diverse customer requirements with faster turnaround times and reduced logistics costs.
“American manufacturers and brands need dependable supply chains and quality packaging produced right here at home,” said Rodrigo Salas, Factory Manager at Wyda Packaging USA’s Charlotte facility. “This investment allows us to serve our customers with the speed, precision, and consistency they require while creating skilled manufacturing jobs in our community.”
Salas brings over two decades of experience in industrial operations and plant management across Latin America and the United States. Originally from Brazil and now based in Charlotte, he is leading the integration of new automation systems, workforce expansion, and production optimization to support Wyda’s rapid U.S. growth.
The expansion comes approximately one year after Wyda’s initial entry into the U.S. market with the opening of its original 15,000-square-foot Charlotte facility in 2024. Strong customer response and growing demand from private label partnerships drove the decision to accelerate capacity expansion ahead of initial projections.
“This growth demonstrates our commitment to American manufacturing and positions Charlotte as a critical production hub for serving the North American market,” said Daniel Mendes, USA Country Manager for Wyda. “With operations spanning four countries, we bring multinational manufacturing expertise to Charlotte while delivering the local responsiveness and supply chain reliability that U.S. customers demand.”
The facility features state-of-the-art equipment developed exclusively for Wyda, enabling production of 100% recyclable aluminum products that meet international environmental standards. Wyda’s packaging designs incorporate proprietary safety features, including blade-free cutting systems that improve user safety while maintaining performance.
