Storopack Launches Innovative Bio-Based Foam Packaging Solution

Storopack Launches Innovative Bio-Based Foam Packaging Solution

FOAMplus® 7008-BIO, the new packaging foam from Storopack, puts sustainability center stage. This polyurethane foam boasts more than 83% real bio-based carbon content material in the B-Component, meaning that it is made of renewable sources and carries a much lower carbon footprint than equivalent fossil origin products.

This innovation represents a leap forward in the field of polyurethane foam packaging, offering a biobased alternative to traditional fossil-based materials. FOAMplus® 7008-BIO foam offers the same material properties as conventional polyurethane. This ensures the usual high-quality protective packaging for a wide variety of packaging applications, such as the cushioning and blocking and bracing of shipping goods in the box. The foam is currently available in a density of 0.50 lb/ft3, but in the future, Storopack customers will be able to choose between a range of densities. FOAMplus® 7008-BIO is now available in North and South America and is compatible with all Storopack FOAMplus® Foam-in-Place Packaging Systems.

The new FOAMplus® 7008-BIO is available in combination with the new FOAMplus® bio film, which also features certified bio-based content. This provides the perfect solution for those looking to reduce the environmental impact of their packaging.

Versatile All-Around Solution

Foam packaging systems offer maximum flexibility when it comes to packing. As it hardens, the foam adapts specifically to the contours of the packaged goods, blocking and bracing them within the shipping carton. This means that products are optimally cushioned, and shocks are absorbed effectively. If necessary, the foam packaging can be reused multiple times on the same shipping goods.
