US-based Cortec has introduced a new packaging film for the electronics sector: EcoSonic VpCI-125 HP permanent electrostatic discharge (ESD) stretch film.
It has been developed to deliver ESD protection together with corrosion inhibition.

The film is formulated to maintain permanent static dissipative properties over the duration of its use.
It addresses the shelf-life and stability problems typically seen with conventional “pink poly” stretch films used in electronics packaging.
The material complies with static decay performance criteria under MIL-STD 3010, Method 4046, both in its original state and after being stretched.
This ensures static dissipation during the wrapping process as well as during subsequent storage and transport.
The film also contains vapour phase corrosion inhibitors to disperse within sealed packages and create a molecular protective layer on a range of metal surfaces.
The combination of ESD control and corrosion protection is targeted at electronics that may be stored or moved in environments without strict climate control, such as large electronic assemblies loaded on pallets for shipping and handling.
Cortec added that the stretch film may also be used in other sectors where static control is important, such as munitions and fertilisers.
This is particularly relevant during stretch-wrapping operations, where static charge can build up under low-conductivity, high-friction conditions.
EcoSonic VpCI-125 HP permanent ESD stretch film is compatible with conventional stretch-wrapping machinery, safe to handle and apply, and translucent to allow visual checks for inspection and inventory purposes without removing the wrapping.
In November 2025, EcoCortec – the European arm of Cortec Corporation – detailed a line-up of vapour corrosion inhibitor (VCI) packaging materials produced at its Croatian facility.
The line-up emphasised compostability, biodegradability and compatibility with circular economy goals.
