The Indian Institute of Packaging (IIP) and the Plastics Packaging Research & Development Centre (PPRDC) have started a certificate programme focused on plastics packaging and recycling.
The course is aimed at those seeking skills in recycling methods, packaging materials, and circular economy practices, according to The Economic Times.

The three-month curriculum covers technical aspects of plastic packaging materials, regulatory requirements, recycling methods, and end-of-life management.
It also addresses India’s policy landscape and extended producer responsibility (EPR) guidelines.
The course is divided into 15 sessions comprising 32 topics, taught by over 21 faculty members, according to the publication.
Eligibility of the course extends to engineering graduates, working professionals, diploma holders, entrepreneurs, start-ups, and process teams who are looking to expand their knowledge in plastics recycling and sustainable packaging.
Practical components such as industry site visits, laboratory work, and case-based study are part of the training.
A number of participants will have opportunities for engagement with industry professionals, mentoring, and project assignments.
Delivery will be through a combination of in-person sessions and online instruction, integrating classroom learning with exposure to real-world industrial practices.
India-based flexible packaging company UFlex has welcomed the collaboration, according to its post on social media platform X.
UFlex sustainability director and flexible packaging and new product development president Jeevaraj Gopal Pillai said: “The launch of this programme is perfectly timed, as the industry is facing a widening skills gap during this shift.
“There is a strong need for professionals and entrepreneurs who understand both the fundamentals and technical aspects of recycling, as well as the strategic design of circular systems.”
