The Shirwal plant underwent changes involving generative AI, machine learning, deep learning, Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT), and digital twin technologies.

According to ACG, the transformation sought to reduce energy usage and associated greenhouse gas emissions, while supporting workplace safety and employee empowerment.

Reported outcomes from the project include a 40% drop in lead times, a 71% decrease in defects, a 31% reduction in energy use, and a 34% improvement in full on-time deliveries.

The Global Lighthouse Network is an initiative by the World Economic Forum, in partnership with McKinsey & Company, recognising sites that show leadership in productivity, supply chain resilience, sustainability, talent development, and customer focus.

World Economic Forum Centre’s advanced manufacturing and supply chains head Kiva Allgood said: “Competitiveness today is no longer defined by efficiency alone, but by the ability to sense, adapt and respond at speed. The Global Lighthouse Network showcases how intelligence-led operations are placing resilience and sustainability at the core of industrial performance.”

ACG provides oral dosage products and services, including capsules, barrier packaging materials, manufacturing machinery, visual inspection and traceability solutions.

The company operates in 138 countries across six continents.

ACG Packaging Materials CEO S R Shivshankar said: “This recognition reflects the commitment of our teams at Shirwal and their ability to integrate advanced digital technologies into everyday manufacturing operations. It strengthens our focus on delivering consistent quality, productivity and sustainability for customers worldwide.”
