Prism eLogistics has introduced a recyclable sleeve for Bio&Me’s kefir drinks, which it said is the “first of its kind” in the dairy category.
Bio&Me was looking for packaging for its kefir range that would meet requirements around product presentation, pack performance and sustainability.

The format put forward by Prism uses EcoFloat shrink sleeving.
The material is designed to support the sink/float separation stage and is compatible with existing PP recycling streams, allowing both the transparent bottle and the sleeve decoration to be recycled.
In a LinkedIn post, Prism eLogistics managing director Ian Wright said: “Bio&Me is an incredibly exciting business, and we’re delighted to be part of their category-shifting new launch.
“By developing a solution that is both compliant with dairy regulations and fully recyclable, we’re proving that sustainability and EPR adherence are compatible with eye-catching, true-to-brand packaging.”
Prism said the full-body sleeve delivers the opacity needed for safety compliance while removing the need for conventional white coloured plastic.
The company added that this type of plastic is harder to recycle and is associated with higher extended producer responsibility (EPR) fees.
The sleeve format also gives more printable space than conventional labels.
Prism said this allows Bio&Me to apply a full-bottle design that stands apart from standard dairy packaging and provides room for the product information it wanted to present to consumers.
Bio&Me chief operating officer Mark Isaacson said: “Our new functional kefir range is shaking up dairy, and we wanted the pioneering nature of the products to be reflected by the packaging.
“As a proud UK manufacturer, we were delighted to partner with a home-grown British packaging specialist in Prism, and their consultancy and guidance were critical to developing our 100% recyclable shrink sleeve solution.”
