Alesayi taps SIG for bag-in-box expansion

Alesayi Beverage Corporation, a leading player in the Saudi beverage market, is diversifying its product range with the adoption of bag-in-box (BIB) packaging.

The company has partnered with global packaging specialist SIG to install a state-of-the-art aseptic BIB filling system at its new production facility in Saudi city Jeddah.

This strategic move marks Alesayi’s entry into the BIB market, a segment dominated by SIG.

The new system will enable the production of a variety of products, initially focusing on water, for the country’s burgeoning hospitality sector.

SIG’s SureFill 42 Aseptic filling line and ten-litre SIG bags, featuring the company’s innovative 2Pure Film, will be the cornerstone of Alesayi’s BIB operations.

The film is designed to preserve water quality for extended periods, while the OptiTap 2300 fitment offers consumers a convenient dispensing experience.

“This is just the beginning of our long-term strategic partnership with SIG, as we continue our ambition to become the number one food and beverage co-packer in the MEA [Middle East and Africa] region,” said Ali Alesayi, CEO of Alesayi Beverage Corporation.

“We’re committed to offering our customers SIG’s unique portfolio of sustainable packaging solutions, including aseptic carton, bag-in-box and spouted pouch, as well as accelerating our sustainability roadmap.”

Abdelghany Eladib, SIG’s regional head, emphasised the flexibility and efficiency of the BIB system, allowing Alesayi to explore various product formats and cater to the diverse needs of the hotel, restaurant, and café (HoReCa) market.

“By operating our bag-in-box packaging system, Alesayi Beverages will benefit from the system’s flexibility and high performance, enabling product diversification using a number of bag shapes, sizes and fitments,” said Eladib, president and general manager at SIG MEA and India.

“Alesayi will be able to cater to the different business needs of the HoReCa market, starting with water and then moving on to juices and condiment sauces.”

The new production facility, spanning more than 98,000ft², is a testament to Alesayi’s commitment to expanding its operations and meeting growing market demand.

With this collaboration, Alesayi and SIG are poised to reshape the Saudi beverage landscape, offering consumers innovative and sustainable packaging solutions.
