Stock Spirits Group reclaimed 65.5% of packaging in 2023


Stock Spirits Group (SSG), a manufacturer pf alcohol beverages, has achieved a significant milestone in sustainability by reclaiming 65.5% of its packaging materials in 2023.  

The achievement was reported in the company’s Sustainability Report 2023 released on 27 August 2024. 

The report disclosed that SSG introduced 106,745 tonnes (t) of packaging to the market in 2023, with glass and paper being the primary materials used. 

During the year, the company reclaimed 66.4% of glass materials and 70.5% of paper, while plastic and aluminium recovery rates stood at 41.4% and 48.5% respectively.  

The company’s commitment to sustainability was further evident as only 0.8t of the packaging introduced was made from materials classified as hazardous. 

The report also stated that on average, 31% of the materials used in the company’s packaging were recycled input materials, according to supplier declarations.

The total weight of packaging purchased in the fiscal year 2023 was 102,448t, with glass constituting 94% of this weight and plastic less than 1%. 

Stock Spirits Group also generated a total of 4,350t of waste over the year, with 93.1% being recycled and recovered, and only 6.6% sent to landfills.  

Packaging waste comprised 56% of the total waste produced, with a mere 0.4% classified as hazardous.
