Packsize opens Innovation Centre in Louisville, US

Packsize, an on-demand packaging company, has announced the opening of its Innovation Centre in Louisville, Kentucky, US.

The 240,000ft² facility is set to enhance the company’s manufacturing capabilities, ensuring quality and providing logistical advantages to its North American customers.

The Louisville Innovation Centre is poised to become a hub for Packsize’s research and development, bringing manufacturing closer to the customer base.

This strategic move aims to reduce lead times and bolster in-house capabilities.

The centre will employ 200 individuals, with plans for further expansion.

Packsize CEO David Lockwood said: “Our newest facility in Louisville represents both our investment in the future of Packsize and our steadfast dedication to the best possible service for our customers.

“As we look to the years ahead, Packsize is laser-focused on expanding our operations while creating an ecosystem that supports the growth of our business, development of our team and our dedication to a more sustainable future.”

The Innovation Centre is not only a manufacturing site but also a showcase for Packsize’s technology to global companies.

It lays the groundwork for scalable growth and local job creation in various sectors, including quality assurance, production, engineering, and research and development.

The facility will also support Packsize’s environmental goals by localising assembly and refurbishment operations, thus reducing CO₂ emissions through decreased shipping needs from Europe.

Packsize COO Kellen Frey said: “Louisville is an ideal choice for us to further develop our North American infrastructure to better serve our growing customer base.

“Not only does the co-location of production and R&D resources allow us to accelerate our innovation and maintain quality in our solutions, it also powers our efforts to build an incredible team that is aligned with our mission and values.”

Packsize manufactures right-sized, on-demand packaging solutions such as custom boxes that use less material, thereby reducing waste and promoting sustainability.

In May this year, Packsize partnered with EFI, a global technology company, for a new on-demand box system.
