Ardagh creates limited-edition Absolut Warhol vodka bottle

Ardagh Glass Packaging-Europe (AGP-Europe) has collaborated with the Absolut Group to create the limited-edition Absolut Warhol vodka bottle.

This new design is said to celebrate the collaboration between Andy Warhol and Absolut Vodka, blending the past with the present.

Warhol was the first in a series of artists to create artwork for Absolut Vodka’s advertising campaigns.

The new vodka bottle brings the rediscovered ‘blue’ painting of Warhol from 1985 to life.

AGP-Europe new product development process manager Julia Schilleras characterises the new Absolut Warhol bottle as embodying an ‘extra everything’ concept. The design is screen-printed onto the bottle using five distinct colours and a glass-based enamel.

Additionally, the medallion features a tactile brush stroke texture. The finishing touches include a depiction of Warhol himself, accompanied by his signature.

The bottle is produced and decorated at AGP’s location in Limmared, Sweden.

Each shade of blue has been extracted from the painting and used for printing the design onto bottles with the help of a screen-printing process.

This method enables the layering of colours, delivering a high detail level and creating a resemblance to the original painting.

The bottles are available in sizes of 70cl, 75cl, and one litre.

In September this year, AGP-North America launched a new 500ml Celebration bottle in flint glass. This bottle complements the existing amber glass version and improves the variety of bottles that craft brewers and beverage brands can choose from for their products.

Ardagh produces glass packaging in various shapes and sizes for brands. Offering 17 colours, the company creates packaging that enhances a brand’s identity.
