Amcor secures European patent for AmFiber Performance paper-based packaging

Packaging company Amcor has been granted a European patent for its AmFiber Performance Paper, a high-barrier, paper-based packaging solution that combines recyclability with high-speed customer line performance.

AmFiber Performance Paper, with its thin film barrier, caters to food- and healthcare-grade packaging.

The company stated that the European patent recognises the innovative barrier materials and patterned sealable material of AmFiber Performance Paper, which offers a ‘unique’ set of functional attributes for paper-based packaging.

The AmFiber portfolio is currently available on store shelves worldwide and is suitable for a variety of applications, including snacks and confectionery, dry culinary and beverage products, meat and dairy, as well as home and personal care items.

Amcor Global Product Management AmFiber’s vice-president Ilya Syshchikov said: “With its superior barrier properties, high performance and excellent runnability, AmFiber Performance Paper is an ideal choice for brands across the globe seeking recyclable paper-based packaging solutions.

“Receiving the European patent is acknowledgement of Amcor’s leadership in paper-based packaging development and is an important step toward creating a circular economy.”
