Colpac launches Tower Trays packaging

British packaging manufacturer Colpac has introduced its latest innovation in food packaging, the Tower Trays, designed to provide a versatile and convenient solution for foodservice operators.

The trays can function as single units for dine-in service or be combined to form a secure takeaway box, offering flexibility for quick-service restaurants (QSR), street food vendors, and event caterers.

The Tower Trays are suitable for both hot and ambient dishes, making them an ideal choice for various dining settings, including sports stadiums and high-end burger chains.

Their design allows for easy filling and serving, with wide apertures for back-of-house efficiency and secure closures for takeaway orders.

The new packaging features a unique silhouette and it can be interlocked to form a base and lid for takeout, with secure closures.

Colpac head of marketing and product Kate Berry said: “We are excited to launch our newly designed Tower Trays into the market as part of our ongoing product development programme. The new formats offer flexibility across usages and configurations, making them a multi-functional packaging solution.”

Tower Trays offer space efficiency that reduces the number of stock-keeping units (SKUs) needed by serving dual purposes as trays and box components. They are also designed to nest during transport and storage, further saving space.

Colpac worked closely with customers to refine the product, resulting in four sizes across square and rectangular formats to accommodate a variety of dishes.

The square trays mimic the dimensions of traditional clamshell packaging while the rectangular options cater to larger meals.

Manufactured in Colpac’s factory in the UK, the Tower Trays has reduced lead times for UK and European clients.

They are produced from FSC-certified paperboard, which is recyclable, compostable, and contains recycled material, aligning with the growing demand for sustainable packaging solutions.

In September, the company launched a new line of food packaging products Stagione Light for hot and cold meals. It expanded its range of recyclable multifood pots by launching a new 950ml kraft pot earlier this year.
