Redesign (Over)Reaction Theater: Jaguar ‘Breaks the Mold’

Redesign (Over)Reaction Theater: Jaguar ‘Breaks the Mold’

Listen, I’m not a car guy. I drive a Subaru because I live in New England, and—knock on wood—it’s been a reliable snow chariot in the winter months. Also, I liked that they seemingly resemble a pair of New Balance 550s. Likely, I am the only person with this dubious opinion, and that’s OK.

What I’m saying is this makes me uniquely unqualified to talk about the new Jaguar rebrand, which is undoubtedly stirring up quite the shitstorm for the armchair my-passion-is-graphic-design folks. Also, we write about packaging. However, we also write about branding, so it’s still fair game for us, and maybe I want to promote the idea that a “car is also packaging” is the new “hot dog is a sandwich-style debate.”

For the record, a hot dog is a sandwich.
