Çevikbaş meets customers’ demands with BOBST RS 6003 presses

Turkey-based Çevikbaş Packaging has extended its capacity by 40% through the deployment of BOBST gravure technology.

The installation of two RS 6003 presses has notably increased production speed, quality, and format flexibility, enabling the company to meet rising customer demands.

Founded in 1988, Çevikbaş Packaging specialises in a variety of flexible food packaging solutions.

To accommodate growth and customer needs, the company sought to boost printing capacity and enhance production speed.

After a thorough market review, Çevikbaş Packaging CEO Mehmet Çevikbaş and CFO Ahmet Çevikbaş chose to invest in two eight-color BOBST RS 6003 gravure presses in 2021, increasing annual capacity by 40% to 18,000 tonnes.

Mehmet Çevikbaş said: “BOBST’s gravure technology really impressed us, in particular the high speed and the format flexibility.

“Our customers are looking for high quality and increasingly quicker turnaround times, so we must live up to those expectations by bolstering our offering with state-of-the-art equipment.”

The company’s modern facility in Konya’s industrial zone employs 150 staff across two shifts, operating six gravure lines, including the new BOBST machines.

Exporting around 40% of its production, Çevikbaş serves customers in Africa, Central Asia, and Europe.

The BOBST RS 6003 lines provide a maximum speed of 500m per minute and support various substrates, with automation and connectivity for reliable processes and high productivity.

Çevikbaş is also committed to sustainable practices as a member of SEDEX.

It offers recyclable monomaterial packaging and operates a solvent recovery facility and solar energy system.

The BOBST presses align with this vision by reducing waste and cost with features such as short web paths, accurate register control, twin flow drying technology, and heat recovery systems.

BOBST’s identical presses ensure consistent quality, operational flexibility, job repeatability, shared machine parts, and cost savings.

BOBST Gravure & Laminating technology sales manager Angelo Cavallo said: “We were very honoured when Çevikbaş, one of Turkey’s premier packaging producers, chose BOBST gravure technology as its next strategic move.

“The growth the company has experienced on the back of this investment is a major point of pride for us. We look forward to continuing the collaboration for many more years.”
