McKinley opens new corrugated box-making plant in Lancaster

McKinley Packaging, a subsidiary of Bio Pappel, known for its sustainable paper-based packaging solutions, has inaugurated a new corrugated box manufacturing plant in Lancaster, Texas, US, the Business Journals has reported.

The facility, which received its certificate of occupancy in late 2024, spans 500,000ft² and represents the company’s seventh packaging plant in the US.

This strategic expansion is expected to bolster McKinley’s production capacity and sustainability efforts.

The Lancaster plant is designed to minimise environmental impact through zero-discharge water usage and advanced recycling technologies.

This aligns with McKinley’s commitment to sustainable operations and Bio Pappel’s initiatives to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and promote circular economies in the packaging sector.

The facility’s location, with access to rail and major transportation corridors, further enhances its operational efficiency.

The new plant is anticipated to generate approximately 125 jobs when operating at full capacity, offering positions from production line workers to management.

The city of Lancaster has expressed enthusiasm over the plant’s opening, viewing it as a reflection of the city’s capacity to draw significant industrial investments.

A representative from the city’s economic development team was quoted by the news agency as saying: “The arrival of McKinley Packaging is a huge win for Lancaster and our residents.

“This project not only creates jobs but also positions Lancaster as a leader in sustainable industrial development.”

Local businesses and suppliers are poised to benefit from the plant’s operation, as McKinley aims to partner with regional companies.
