Carmine’s partners with CCT to provide accessible packaging for signature sauces

Carmine’s, the Italian restaurant in New York City, US, is enhancing its customer experience by partnering with Consumer Convenience Technologies (CCT), a packaging solutions provider, to introduce the EEASY Lid for its signature sauces.

The collaboration with CCT will enhance the accessibility of Carmine’s sauces for its customers.

Carmine’s has been selling its signature sauces since the Covid-19 pandemic to support its employees, and due to high demand, has continued distribution.

The restaurant is now responding to calls for inclusive and eco-friendly packaging by teaming up with CCT, whose patented EEASY Lid technology aims to improve jarred food products.

The EEASY Lid allows for the effortless opening of vacuum-sealed jars, reducing the torque required by up to 50%.

The solution is particularly beneficial for individuals with physical challenges such as carpal tunnel or tendonitis and those recovering from surgery. The lid’s design incorporates an aluminium lug, offering a recyclable alternative to traditional tin plate lids, furthering Carmine’s commitment to sustainability.

Carmine’s CEO Jeffrey Bank said: “Now with the EEASY Lid, we hope to make that [dining] experience even more convenient so that people can recreate the Carmine’s experience at home with ease. We want every day to feel like a Sunday afternoon at grandma’s, and we want consumers to be able to access our sauces effortlessly.”

The collaboration is set to expand Carmine’s reach and facilitate the growth of the EEASY Lid throughout the US, leveraging Carmine’s extensive national restaurant and retail network.

CCT manufactures the 63mm lug EEASY Lid at its 16,000ft² technology centre in Ohio, US, with a production capacity of approximately 800 lids per minute, equating to more than 250 million annually.

CCT president Brandon Bach said: “More than one in four adults in the US struggle with some sort of disability, and that doesn’t even consider people who have weakened grip strength for other reasons.

“We’re proud to soon have the EEASY Lid in 300 Shoprite stores atop Carmine’s delicious signature sauces – with more availability to come in the near future.”
