ALPLA takes full ownership of ALPLA TABA site in Egypt

Packaging company ALPLA has fully incorporated its Egyptian site ALPLA TABA into its operations by acquiring all shares from its joint venture (JV) partner, Taba.

The move consolidates ALPLA’s presence in North Africa and the Middle East, where it operates a production plant in 10th of Ramadan City, near the Egyptian capital Cairo.

The acquired site, which has been an accounting hub for the Africa, Middle East & Turkey (AMET) region since 2024, employs approximately 450 people.

The acquisition was finalised on 16 December 2024, with both parties agreeing to keep the terms of the deal confidential.

ALPLA AMET regional managing director Javier Delgado said: “The close cooperation with Taba has laid the foundation for our success. During our time together, we have consolidated our market-leading position. Now we are taking the next step.”

The site’s team utilises advanced technologies such as injection blow moulding, injection stretch blow moulding, extrusion blow moulding, and more to produce plastic packaging components.

Despite the acquisition, ALPLA’s ties with Taba will continue through DEPACK, a JV in the 10th of Ramadan City Industrial Park that specialises in manufacturing food packaging with thermoforming technology.

ALPLA’s products, including plastic bottles, closures, and preforms, serve the food, beverage, household, beauty, and pharmaceutical industries. The company has expanded its portfolio to include standard packaging for pharmaceutical products in Egypt.

ALPLA Finance & Controlling AMET regional head Tarek Bassiouni said: “Everywhere in North Africa and the Middle East, the need for safe, affordable and sustainable packaging solutions is growing. As a system provider and technology market leader with 70 years of experience, we implement these from a single source.

“Our presence in Egypt plays a key role and has also been home to our central Accounting Service Hub since 2024.”
