Saudi Arabia’s GulfPack to expand BOPP film production capacity

Gulf Packaging Industries (GulfPack) in Saudi Arabia, a producer of biaxially oriented polypropylene (BOPP), cast PP, and metallised films, has secured contracts for a substantial expansion.

The expansion will allow the company to boost its production capacity and cater to the growing global demand from its customers.

As part of this expansion, GulfPack will set up two new BOPP production lines, each 10.4m wide, at a new plant.

This will boost the company’s BOPP film capacity from 183,000 tonnes per annum (tpa) to around 318,000tpa.

The new production lines are planned to start operating in 2026 and 2027, respectively.

These recent investments are reported to align with the company’s commitment to developing solutions that support recyclable monomaterial structures while minimising the environmental impact of flexible packaging.

GulfPack CEO Naif AlAnsari said: “This expansion is a testament to GulfPack’s unwavering commitment to innovation, sustainability, and customer service.

“We have received an overwhelming response to our recent expansions in 2023-24, and with our customer base growing rapidly, demand for our high-performance films continues to surge across the globe.

“Today, we export to over 75 countries, and these new investments will allow us to enhance our supply capabilities, strengthen partnerships, and support our customers in achieving their growth ambitions.”

GulfPack produces its solutions for packaging converters and fast-moving consumer goods companies.

It operates a sales and distribution hub in the US, along with sales offices in ten locations worldwide.
