DS Smith unveils recyclable and reusable cooler in US

DS Smith, a fibre-based packaging solutions provider, has introduced its fully recyclable and reusable cooler.

The company said that its new product, named the ‘GoChill Cooler’, offers a sustainable replacement for traditional plastic and Styrofoam coolers.

Claimed to have been made using wax-free corrugated board, the GoChill Cooler helps consumers preserve their food and drinks while reducing waste.

This design addresses the growing demand for eco-conscious packaging solutions, particularly for outdoor enthusiasts.

The cooler is resistant to moisture and complies with food-grade safety regulations.

It offers the same level of cooling efficiency as standard coolers but with a significantly reduced environmental footprint, according to the company.

A survey by DS Smith revealed that one in five consumers would avoid companies using Styrofoam. Furthermore, 77% of respondents stated they would prefer using the GoChill Cooler over other disposable alternatives.

As part of DS Smith’s ‘Now and Next’ sustainability strategy, the company is championing the transition to a circular economy.

The company is focused on creating solutions that extend the life cycle of materials, helping to reduce waste and lower carbon emissions.

DS Smith North America Packaging and Paper innovation product specialist Evans Elliott said: “As warmer weather approaches and consumers spend more time outside, our high-performing cooler keeps perishable items cold for every outdoor activity.

“GoChill Cooler provides a household item that is reusable and easily recyclable.”

In January this year, DS Smith introduced its new product, TailorTemp, for the pharmaceutical industry.
