ExxonMobil Helps Clipsico Pack Enhance Hand Wrap Film Capabilities

ExxonMobil, one of the largest publicly traded international energy companies, uses technology and innovation to help meet the world’s growing energy needs. The company recently launched its new ExxonMobil Signature Polymers portfolio brand, which focuses on delivering best-in-class service and partnerships within the polymers industry. ExxonMobil Signature Polymers unifies ExxonMobil’s polyolefin products under a single brand, simplifying portfolio navigation and promoting enhanced collaboration across the value chain.

Recently, ExxonMobil partnered with Clipsico Pack, a leading stretch film manufacturer in the Middle East and Africa, to enhance the performance, efficiency, and cost-effectiveness of its stiff/high tenacity hand wrap film using ExxonMobil Signature Polymers. By collaborating closely, the two companies developed a new formulation using Exceed™ Flow m 1716 resin, part of the ExxonMobil Signature Polymers portfolio, enabling Clipsico Pack to better compete in the demanding high-tenacity stretch film segment.

Through this partnership, Clipsico Pack was able to accelerate production line speeds, reduce dependency on higher-cost materials, and improve key film properties such as holding force, tear resistance, and break time. The result is a thinner, stronger hand wrap film that performs more reliably during pallet transport while driving significant operational savings.

“Exceed Flow m 1716 has allowed us to enter the stiff/ high tenacity hand wrap market, where we were previously unable to provide a competitive solution,“ said Abd el-Karim Mohamad, Technical Operations Manager, CLIPSICO PACK. “As a result of the enhanced performance using ExxonMobil Signature Polymers, we achieved higher line speed at the same gauge and improved holding force compared to the next best alternative. Our close partnership with ExxonMobil Signature Polymers team made sure that we chose the highest performing resin and we had solid test results to determine the best solution.”

Key results include:

  • A 70% increase in production capacity, compared to the market reference, allowing for higher line speeds on extrusion lines.
  • Up to 5% higher wind force at 50% and 100% pre-stretch, improving the performance of the stretch film during wrapping.
  • A 6% increase in tear resistance at 100% pre-stretch, enhancing the film’s durability and load stability.
  • A significant increase in break time, with a 90% improvement at 100% pre-stretch, contributing to enhanced film handling and operational efficiency.

These results demonstrate the powerful impact of ExxonMobil’s Signature Polymers in advancing Clipsico Pack’s capabilities and competitiveness in the high-tenacity stretch film market.
