Ahlstrom concludes acquisition of Stevens Point facility in Wisconsin

Fibre-based speciality materials provider Ahlstrom has concluded the acquisition of the Stevens Point facility in Wisconsin, US.

The Stevens Point facility offers advanced solutions for food and consumer packaging, as well as e-commerce applications.

Last month, Ahlstrom signed a binding agreement with Pixelle Specialty Solutions to acquire the plant.

The new site contributes finishing and coating technologies that complement Ahlstrom’s existing capabilities.

The acquisition also includes a portfolio of premium-quality products and established customer relationships, supported by the expertise of the facility’s 260 employees.

Ahlstrom Food and Consumer Packaging executive vice-president and CIO Konraad Dullaert said: “Stevens Point’s superior technical expertise and top-class team are an exciting addition to Ahlstrom’s technology portfolio and global manufacturing network.

“This acquisition expands our market coverage and positions us to respond to the evolving needs of our customers in North America and beyond.”

Ahlstrom aims to leverage these assets to enhance value for its customers and stakeholders, reinforcing its position as a leading supplier in the sector.

Ahlstrom CEO and president Helen Mets said: “With Stevens Point we are strengthening the breadth and quality of our sustainable offerings to customers in our Food and Consumer Packaging division.

“With this move we are investing in our future and together will lead the way in sustainable packaging solutions.”

Recently, Ahlstrom launched a new parchmentiser, PMZ5, at its Saint-Séverin plant in France, investing €15m ($16.8m) to enhance sustainable innovation and customer collaboration in the food packaging sector.
