International Molded Fiber Association to Host its Annual Conference in Barcelona

The International Molded Fiber Association (IMFA) has announced that its 28th Annual Conference will take place April 13–17, 2026, in Barcelona, Spain—marking the organization’s return to Europe for the first time in over a decade.

With a growing global footprint and increasing demand for fiber-based packaging solutions, IMFA’s flagship event is poised to be the largest and most internationally connected conference in its history. This also marks the beginning of an expanded presence in Europe, strengthening IMFA’s engagement with its European members and the broader molded fiber industry.

Set against the backdrop of one of Europe’s most vibrant cities, the 28th Annual Conference will introduce several firsts, including exclusive guided site visits to operational molded fiber facilities in and around Barcelona. These plant tours will offer a rare opportunity for attendees to step inside production environments, experience real-time demonstrations, and see firsthand how leading companies are advancing sustainability, efficiency, and product quality across the molded fiber value chain.

Hosted at the Torre Melina Gran Meliá Hotel, the five-day event will feature a full schedule of expert-led technical presentations covering the latest advancements in fiber thermoforming, tooling, sustainability, and automation. IMFA will offer dedicated time for connection and collaboration, including multiple networking receptions, peer-led panel discussions, and informal gatherings designed to foster meaningful global partnerships and business development.

“The momentum is real,” said Gary Visser, Executive Chairman of IMFA. “We’re thrilled to bring our global community together in Barcelona to share ideas, explore innovations, and connect in ways that move this industry forward. Between the plant tours, technical programming, and international reach, this event is truly a can’t-miss opportunity for anyone committed to the future of molded fiber.”

The 27th Annual Conference in Miami welcomed nearly 200 attendees representing 88 companies and 18 countries, underscoring IMFA’s role as the world’s leading forum for molded fiber professionals. Building on that success, the 2026 event will offer even deeper opportunities for hands-on learning, global exchange, and strategic insight.

Pre-registration for the 28th Annual Conference is now open at imfa.org/28th-annual-conference. Discounted room blocks at the Torre Melina Gran Meliá Hotel are available in limited supply.
