In a move aimed at better serving medical packaging customers who manufacture in Central and South America, Placon has opened a new warehouse and distribution facility in Costa Rica.
The 150,000-square-foot, third-party logistics (3PL) facility is located near San José and Costa Rica’s free trade zone (FTZ), and will serve as the supply chain hub for the warehousing, transportation, and inventory management of Placon’s medical-related packaging for customers in the region. The company plans on expanding space and potentially manufacturing packaging in Costa Rica, as customer demand increases.
“In recent years, Costa Rica has become a medical manufacturing hub for many of our customers,” said Justin Stovall, Placon’s Executive Vice President of Commercial Operations. “Our goal is to provide them with the packaging they need, closer to their regional operations, to help streamline their own supply chain concerns, and avoid expensive packaging revalidations and tooling costs.”
All of Placon’s medical packaging is ISO13485 certified, which guarantees that the company’s manufacturing processes comply with rigorous medical device industry standards.
