Crown Holdings announces leadership changes

Packaging company Crown Holdings has announced executive leadership changes, effective 1 July 2025.

The company promoted North American Beverage can business president Gary Gavin as the president of the Crown Americas Division.

In his new position, Gavin will manage Crown’s beverage can operations in Brazil, Colombia, Mexico, and North America.

He will also oversee the North American tinplate businesses, which include food and aerosol cans as well as metal closures.

Gavin joined Crown in January 2023 after a 29-year career at International Paper Company (IP).

During his time at IP, he held various senior roles, culminating in his position as vice-president and general manager of the North American Container Division.

Under Gavin’s leadership, Crown said that its North American beverage can business has experienced significant capacity expansion, leading to “strong sales and income growth”.

His focus on customer service and operational efficiency has contributed to “industry-leading results”, added the company.

Gavin will report to Djalma Novaes Jr, who will now be promoted as executive vice-president and COO.

Novaes is currently the president of the company’s Americas Division.

Novaes will oversee both the Americas and European Divisions, in addition to Global Sourcing and the can manufacturing equipment business, CMB Engineering.

Gerard Gifford, the current executive vice-president and COO, will transition to the role of executive vice-president and chief administrative officer. He is expected to serve in this new capacity until his planned retirement.

Earlier in June 2025, Crown Holdings appointed John Rost as the new president for its Asia-Pacific (APAC) region.
