Sealed Air introduces prismiq digital packaging brand

Sealed Air has introduced prismiq, a digital packaging brand that encompasses design services, digital printing, and smart packaging solutions.

The segment focuses on reducing waste while improving product engagement through a cloud-based platform that generates unique digital IDs for packages, facilitating data management throughout the supply chain.

Via design services, a team of nearly 200 specialists collaborates with global customers to create custom graphics and conduct performance testing.

The digital printing solutions allow for multiple designs in a single order, enabling serialised codes and flexible order quantities with quicker turnaround times.

Sealed Air president and CEO Ted Doheny said: “The future of digital packaging and graphics is here. prismiq, powered by our state-of-the-art digital printing technology is creating game-changing value for customers, enabling touchless automation both in our facilities and our customers’ operations, and making sustainability for packaging real.”

Sealed Air has invested around $100m in its digital transformation, highlighted by the launch of the prismiq 5540, which is claimed to be the largest and fastest flexible digital printing system in the world.

This system supports high-speed, full-colour printing on various materials, including metallics and invisible ink.

Sealed Air smart packaging and design executive director Carrie Giaimo said: “prismiq offers a one-stop, integrated approach to make packaging brilliant.

“We are embedding digital printing capabilities within our manufacturing operations, our customers’ operations and bringing packaging to life in consumers’ homes.”

Sealed Air’s automated packaging solutions reportedly help promote a safer and less wasteful global food supply chain, enable e-commerce, and protect goods transported across the world.

In February this year, Sealed Air appointed Dustin Semach as its new CEO following a mutual agreement between the board of directors and current CEO Patrick Kivits for a leadership transition, leading to Kivits’ resignation.
